Short Story Contest

Purpose

Chosen Pen Publishing Company is pleased to announce its 1st Annual Short Story Essay Contest. Our goal is to encourage and inspire writers to use their creative talents to help readers see the truth and power of the word in a new, fresh perspective.

Writing Contest Deadline

Entries must be received by May 31, 2018.

Entry Fee

$20 (includes one final proofreading by an editor if chosen as a prize winner)

Short Story Length

800 - 1,200 words

Prizes

1st Prize: $150, name and photo recognition, publish your short story in the June 2018 issue of Chosen Pen magazine and five writer reference books.

2nd Prize: $100, name and photo recognition, publish your short story in the August 2018 issue of Chosen Pen magazine in the September 2018 issue and three writer reference books.

3rd Prize: $50 Amazon gift card, name and photo recognition in Chosen Pen magazine, one writer reference book.

Guidelines

Manuscripts must be complete. See length requirement above.

Content must be original. Please do not submit material that you have written for other publications. All content will be subjected to editing for grammar and content if you are a prize winner.

An entry form must be filled out and emailed in with the manuscript. Please DO NOT place your name anywhere in the actual manuscript.

Along with your entry form and manuscript, email a high resolution, quality headshot (photo) of the author. Photos must be copyright free, color digital images that are high resolution. The standard digital camera format JPEG is the suggested format to send entry photos.

Entry form, photo, and short story must be emailed to: contact @chosenpen.org by the designated deadline, May 31, 2018. Include Contest Entry in the subject line.

Only one entry per person is allowed.
